FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q) If I am a CJFM Vendor member, do I have to attend the market every week?

Also, can I have the same space every week?

A) You are not required to attend the market every week. You will only need to pay a booth fee on the weeks you actually attend. A lot of things are considered when deciding what booth space each vendor will occupy, and there is no guarantee you will have the same space week after week. You ARE more likely to be in the same space every week if you attend regularly, but circumstances can change! You will receive an email notifying you of your booth location each week. If you are unable to attend, we ask that you please notify the market manager, so your space can be assigned to another  vendor.

Q) If I am a drop-in vendor, do I need to contact the manager ahead of time before attending the market?

A) YES. All Vendors must communicate prior to setting up a booth. The only exception to this is if you are dropping items off in the Community booth, you may show up unannounced. Keep in mind that if you are a vendor dropping off items in the Community booth, you need to do so BEFORE 3:30 pm, at which time vehicles are no longer allowed in the market space.

Q) Can I accept the wooden coins that customers are spending? How do I know which ones I can accept?

A) That depends on what products you are bringing! We offer 4 types of currency, and some customers receive a 5th type in the mail, so checking which kind you can accept is important! Please check out the page “CJFM Currency Guide” for more detailed information about which currency you can accept for different products. The one currency that ALL vendors can accept for ANY items, are the wooded coins with “CJFM currency” printed in GREEN. These are essentially the same as cash. The coins are in $2 increments so you may give change if needed, but ONLY for the green printed CJFM coins! You cannot give cash change for any other currency. Please bring all currencies to the Community Booth at the end of market, and the market manager will redeem the currency you have collected that day.

Q) What about CJFM Raffle and Gift Certificates?

A) These are essentially like cash also. They can be spent at any booth for any item, and if needed, cash change can be given.

Q) Can I sell baked goods with cream cheese frosting?

A) It depends. If you are making your baked goods in a home kitchen, then it is against regulation to use cream cheese or other perishable ingredients. See the Oregon Home Baking Bill for more specifics about what is or isn’t allowed from your home kitchen.

If you are licensed with Josephine County Health Department and making your product in a commercial or certified kitchen, then you may sell baked goods with cream cheese frosting or other perishable ingredients.

Q) What about pickles, jam, and kimchi? Can I make those in a home kitchen?

A) Yes! IF you grow the majority of the ingredients. Check out the Farm Direct Law to find out more details about what is and isn’t allowed for these kinds of products.
